Oslo to Longyearbyen (Tuesday)
Early breakfast before checking out and
making our way to the train station, 20 mins later we arrived at the
airport. Glad we arrived early for our flight as we had to do our
own check in....after five frustration minutes trying all the numbers
on our e ticket we finally got some help from an airline
helper....checked bags in then joined a really long queue for the
security....they are really well organised so it didn’t take too
long. Made our way to our gate and waited until we could board.
Tramso was our 1st stop
which was 1 1/2 hour flight from Oslo. We had to take all our hand
luggage off to then make our way back onto the same plane after a
passport check!! Another 1 ½ hour flight to Longyearbyen . We were
then bused to the local hotel and had a walk around the town until
4pm to then be bused to the ship “The Expedition”
Our adventure starts.
Checked in , handed our passports over
and then we were taken to our room. Good size room and the bathroom
is fun!! while waiting for the call to be ready to have the life
jacket/boat drill I unpacked!!
We also meet the crew and the captain,
its going to be a fantastic two weeks.
We then checked out Terri and Greg's
suite,....they have a lovely sitting area where we will get together
and watch the scenery go by .I am writing this there in front of the
large windows sipping baileys and eating chocolate....Cheer's!
Dinner was a four course meal which is
every-night between 7.30pm – 8.30pm.Breakfast and lunch is a
buffet, I think the gym might be a good place to go to several times
during this cruise....Nearly time for bed....so much is happening
tomorrow, cant wait.
