Left Perth Airport 15mins early with our Aussies in the Arctic shirts on. Lots of people wanted to know about the shirts so lots of talking to strangers and air hostesses and off towards Singapore for our first stage of our flight. I paniced back at home because our flight was showing it was leaving 3 1/2 hours early apparently a glitch in the system. We were farewelled by Corey, Neil, Mathew, Jess and Liam. Flight to Singapore by Qantas was great. Arrived Singapore 1/2 hour earlier than scheduled. Had a look around Singapore airport and to much of Greg's discuss we weren't allowed to take out duty free grog so only purchased coffee and lots of chocolate for Sharon (Terri).
Left Singapore to Helsinki a few minutes later than scheduled about 11.50pm for our 11 1/2 hour flight. Our section had no on board entertainment for the whole flight and we were offered 20 euro voucher each we could spend on duty free goods through Fin Air. Arrived Helsinki on time with very little sleep Sharon's cold and Greg being annoyed by a back seat pusher until he sorted out that one with the flight crew. After two immigration checks we were through to buy duty free with our vouchers. Greg got a bottle of black label Johnny Walker Sharon bought Baileys for her and Terri and I bought a 1 litre bottle of Bristle Cream. So off to Oslo for a 1 1/2 hour flight and more back seat pushing for Greg.
This time he didn't wait for the flight crew to sort it out a few sharp words problem solved. Arrived Oslo airport 8.50 am Sunday 2nd Sept to overcast skies but about 17C for the day. Now 30 hours no sleep and getting very tired. Pick up our bags and off to immigration. Found the Nothing to declare door and went through. There was three custom officers in the hall we were walking down asked them if we needed to declare the alcohol told us no problem so we kept walking. Came straight out into the front of the terminal with no passport check so we don't know if we are illegals or not. Bought our train tickets at the airport for 170 krono each about A$28 and on to the train which is connected to the airport for our 19min 210km/h about trip to Oslo. Arrived in Oslo about 10.00 am and walk out of the station to our hotel in front of the new Opera House which is on the fjord.
We got in to our rooms straight away which was a relief and all enjoyed a hot shower. Back down the lobby at 11.20am and back in the train station for food and tourist information. Decided to use the hop on hop off bus and buy tickets for Monday for a cruise around the Fjords. We did a loop around on the bus to work out what we wanted to visit and decided on the Vigeland Sculpture Park and Viking museums. We visited the sculpture park about 2.00pm
The park has over 200 bronze sculptures by Gustv Vigeland the largest sculpture park in the world they were created between 1939 and 1949. The sculptures are all nude and shows human life from birth to death.
.I decided to be map boy again and walk back through Oslo to our hotel. Terri and Greg had no faith in me but I showed them. Took them through the Royal Palace Gardens weren't sure if we could or not but we passed the first Royal Guard and he didn't shoot us so I guess we were OK.
Once we were out of the palace we walked through the main City centre came across a small memorial for those killed last year by Anders Breivik. Back at the hotel Terri and I decided to walk over to the new Opera house made in marble very impressive.

Your beer was "darn good"? That doesn't sound very Aussie Dad :P
